3 Arrested yesterday in Investigation of "Rolling Meth Lab" in Paulding County

For Immediate Release

UPDATE – 3 Arrested in Investigation of a “Rolling Meth Lab”

(Paulding County, GA) Matthew Phillip Williamson (Acworth, GA; 34 years old), Taylor Cory Cole (Dallas, GA; 32 years old), and Dallas Wayne Britton (Powder Springs, GA; 34 years old) have been arrested after a traffic stop yielded evidence of a “rolling meth lab” on Polk Ave in Dallas yesterday, May 26. Williamson’s vehicle was stopped by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for an equipment violation.

During the traffic stop, deputies noticed “smoke” coming from a container in the back cargo area of the Ford Explorer. They quickly evacuated the immediate area around the vehicle and closed the surrounding roads. Agents from the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force were called to the scene and confirmed that the items were in fact components consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Agents described this form of manufacturing meth as a new method known on the streets as the “shake and bake” method. This is a one pot method of manufacturing meth where all of the ingredients needed are placed in to one container, usually a 2 liter bottle. The container is then shaken to mix the ingredients and create pressure. The pressure then has to be slowly released by loosening the cap or using some other release valve on the container. Once the pressure is completely released, the “cook” is left with the finished product.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Family Alliance of Paulding are dedicated in their continued fight against meth in Paulding County. The fourth annual March against Meth is scheduled for June 19, 2010, 8:00 a.m. at the Hiram Trailhead of the Silver Comet Trail. The March against Meth annually raises awareness and educates Paulding County residents regarding the dangers of methamphetamine use and abuse. The 5K and 10K running events are sanctioned by Run and See Georgia. The Bike Ride against Meth offers three choices: a Metric Century (62.2 miles), a 30 mile Trail Ride, and a two mile Kids ride. There is also a category for pets and their people to walk in a PAWS Against Meth event.

Williamson, Cole, and Britton are currently held in the Paulding County Detention Center without bond. They are scheduled for a first court appearance Friday morning.
