The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of North Georgia including the Metro Atlanta area and Paulding County. This watch remains in effect until 11pm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms reaching severe limits in and around the watched area.

Storms are developing across Northwest Georgia at this time and are expected to continue throughout the evening. Damaging winds in excess of 60mph, large hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning will be the primary hazards associated with this system.

Persons in this area should monitor local news media and/or NOAA weather radio for possible warnings and later statements.

If you have outdoor activities scheduled and see lightning or hear thunder immediately seek adequate shelter indoors. Loose outdoor items should be secured to prevent damage and use caution while driving.
