A 14-year-old boy is booked in Juvenile Hall after making threats against two schoolmates. This is the second such incident in the East County in the past few months. There have been other teenagers arrested in San Diego County for similar incidents.

The principal of Cajon Park Elementary (kindergarten thru 8th grade) school called the Santee Sheriff's Station on Thursday, March 21st after a female student reported receiving a text message saying she will be killed at school. A second female student received a text message in reference to the killing and a body being hidden.

Detectives traced the source of the text messages and took the boy into custody without incident. The suspect did not have access to any firearms and there is no indication anyone else was involved in the threats.

These are tense times for schools. We want to remind students and parents about the seriousness of making threats. It's not something to joke about and there is nothing funny about going to Juvenile Hall. Making a threat is a felony and constitutes threatening to kill, injure or intimidate individuals or damage and destroy property.

The Sheriff's Department and local school districts take every threat seriously and nothing can be dismissed or ignored. The security and safety of our students is the most important thing. We are always going to err on the side of safety and caution. We will take action even if it was meant as a joke.

Students, don't hesitate to talk to your school counselor or any of our juvenile detectives or deputies assigned to your campus. Don't rush into sending that text message or email if you are upset about something.
