Wildfire Update # 2

The Sheriff's Department continues to assist several fire and law enforcement agencies in putting out fires across the county. 72 Sheriff's Deputies will be working through the night on fire-related operations.

•The evacuation notice issued for the Highway Fire along Old Highway 395 and Interstate 15 in Bonsall has been lifted. The AlertSanDiego message initially went out to more than 1,600 phone numbers. A temporary evacuation site at Fallbrook High School is now closed.

•The evacuation notice for the Lakeside Fire near Aurora Drive and I-8 Business has also been lifted. The AlertSanDiego message initially went out to more than 1,300 phone numbers. A temporary evacuation site at El Capitan High School is now closed.

•Evacuation orders remain in effect for a fire in San Marcos. More than 21, 600 phone numbers in several communities received the AlertSanDiego message. A temporary evacuation site is still open at Mission Hills High School at 1 Mission Hills Court. San Marcos Middle School has been closed as a temporary evacuation site.

•The Bernardo Fire, which is burning west of Black Mountain Ranch is 50 percent contained. Deputies will still be assisting with this fire.

Sheriff Bill Gore said: "It truly has been a great team effort. If the weather improves here a little bit, hopefully we'll see San Diego County get back to the beautiful place we like to live in in a couple of days."
