Cocos/San Marcos Fire Update
Mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect for parts of San Marcos due to the Cocos Fire. Since it broke out on Wednesday afternoon (May 14), the fire has burned about 800 acres.
Nearly 29,000 Alert San Diego notifications have gone out to people in the following areas of San Marcos:
Questhaven
Harmony Grove
Elfin Forest
Coronado Hills
San Elijo Hills
Cal State San Marcos
Discovery Hills
Several road closures are in effect for the following areas:

Double Peak Road at San Elijo Road
San Elijo Road at Questhaven
San Elijo Road at Elfin Forest
Questhaven at Attebury
Melrose at Boulder Ridge
La Costa Meadows at South Rancho Santa Fe Road
San Elijo Road at South Rancho Santa Fe Road
Rancho Santa Fe Road at Melrose
Cal State San Marcos:
South Twin Oaks Valley Road at State Route 78
Barham at La Moree
South Twin Oaks at Craven

Those that have been evacuated can go to a temporary evacuation site at Mission Hills High School located at 1 Mission Hills Court.
People with small animals are welcome at Mission Hills High School in San Marcos and Calavera Hills Community Center at 2997 Glasgow Drive in Carlsbad. Large animals can be taken to Cloverdale Ranch at 2460 Cloverdale Road in Escondido.
