People who evacuated the Lake San Marcos area due to the Cocos Fire are now being allowed back home. This includes areas south of State Route 78 and west of Via Vera Cruz.
At this time, all other evacuation orders issued for communities threatened by the Cocos Fire in San Marcos REMAIN IN EFFECT.
Those evacuated can go to a temporary evacuation site at Mission Hills High School located at 1 Mission Hills Court in San Marcos and Escondido High School at 1535 North Broadway. Small animals are welcome at Mission Hills and Escondido High Schools. Large animals can be taken to Cloverdale Ranch at 2460 Cloverdale Road in Escondido.
The following road closures remain in effect for San Marcos:
•San Elijo Road from Double Peak Drive to Rancho Santa Fe Road
•Twin Oaks Valley Road from SR-78 to Village Drive
•La Moree Road from Barham Drive to Coronado Hills Drive
•Coronado Hills from La Moree Road southbound
•Craven Road from Bent Avenue to Twin Oaks Valley Road
•Discovery Road from San Pablo Drive to Craven Road
•Country Club Drive from Hill Valley Drive to Harmony Grove Road
•Harmony Grove Road from Kauana Loa Drive to Elfin Forrest
•Elfin Forrest from Harmony Grove to San Elijo Road
