Animal Services/Patrol response to Animals left in unattended hot vehicles:
Throughout the day Animal Services and Patrol responded to four calls for service related to animals left unattended in hot vehicles.
- 11:50 a.m. Country Ave – Dogs were left inside an unattended vehicle. The temperature inside the vehicle was 110.6 degrees.
- 1:08 p.m. Costco – A dog was taken into Animal Services care and transported to a local vet to be checked out. The inside vehicle temperature was in excess of 104 degrees. The temperature was measured after all of the doors had been opened on the vehicle.
- 2:30 p.m. Leitch Elementary School – The owner left with the dog before police staff could respond.
- 3:58 p.m. Whole Foods – Three dogs were left in a hot vehicle and the owner was issued a warning.
* Did you know that it only takes 15 minutes for the inside of a vehicle to reach 140 degrees when the outside temperature is 100 degrees? Please be very careful when the weather is warm and never leave a child or pet unattended in a hot vehicle.
#010 Probation Violations
At approximately 8:35 a.m., Officer Hartman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Bay Street and Grimmer Blvd. The driver, a 31 year old adult female (Fremont resident), was on searchable probation. She was found to be in possession of pepper spray and a prescription medication not prescribed to her. She was arrested and booked into the Fremont Jail for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a projectile.
#020 Outside Assist
Milpitas advised that they were searching for a vehicle associated with a brandishing a deadly weapon incident. The vehicle was last seen headed in the direction of Hwy 680. Officer Luevano located the vehicle, a silver Toyota Tacoma, traveling northbound on Hwy 680 in the area of Washington Blvd. Officer Luevano followed the vehicle until sufficient units caught up with him. A felony car stop was conducted at Hwy 680 and Sunol Blvd. The driver was detained and Milpitas PD responded. Case documented by Officer Luevano.
#037 Residential Burglary Attempt
Sometime during the day an unknown suspect attempted to enter a residence on the 39100 block of Presidio Way, by prying open a window. The suspect(s) did not make entry into the residence and no loss was reported. Case documented.
#001 Possession of a Controlled Substance Arrest
At approximately 1:35 a.m., Officer Roberts conducted a pedestrian stop in the area of Logan Drive and Mowry Ave. He contacted and subsequently arrested the 32 year old adult male, Fremont resident, for being in possession of a controlled substance..
#002 Theft
At approximately 2:35 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 24-hour Fitness located on the 4500 block of Auto Mall Parkway. The victim had left her purse in an unlocked locker between approximately 1:09 a.m. – 1:45 a.m. The victim’s credit cards, money, and three cell phones were stolen from her purse. The incident was investigated by Officer Chan.
