Modesto, CA – At about 2:45 p.m. yesterday, a social worker reported a confidential 95-year-old woman had been removed from the hospital by the victim’s neighbors, against medical advice. The victim who suffers from heart disease and dementia was found by detectives at her southwest Modesto residence after being returned by the suspects. The suspects were identified as Rosemary Bazan, 38 years old, Salyce Bazan, 19 years old, and Manuel Flores, 38 years old.

Prior to police contact, the suspects drove the victim to the bank where they attempted to cash a large sum check. The victim did not have the funds to support the check, so she withdrew $1,000 in cash for the suspects.

Detectives learned through the victim’s social worker that she did not possess the decisional capacity to make her own decisions and was under a doctor’s immediate care. All three suspects were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for kidnapping, conspiracy, elder abuse, possession of completed check with intent to defraud, and conspiracy.
