The Paulding County Sheriff's Office advises you to AVOID schools and school zones on Monday, August 17th due to a expected traffic congestion related to the first day of school.

Historically, the first day of school brings a tremendous amount of vehicle and foot traffic to each school in Paulding County. Every year we experience tremendous traffic backups at each school as parents wait to park and walk their children in to their classes for their first day "back to school."

Motorists are urged to avoid schools and school zones during their morning and afternoon commutes if they are not transporting children to school. This will help reduce some of the traffic congestion that we expect to see as well as allow motorist to avoid unnecessary delays that they would experience trying to drive through a school zone.

Plan your routes in advance in order to avoid these areas next week.

The following is a list of hours that motorist can expect to see extreme traffic congestion and delays at each school in Paulding County:

Elementary schools
• 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
• 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Middle schools
• 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
• 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

High schools
• 7:30 a.m. to 8:35 a.m.
• 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
