Update Regarding Sulphur Fire

As of 7:30 the Sulphur Fire is approximately 1,800 acres with 0% containment. The fire is in the vicinity of Borax Lake, Mt. Baldy, the Elem Colony, and surrounding unincorporated areas and areas within the city limits of Clearlake. Fire crews have reported structures have been involved.

Mandatory evacuations are in place for the Clearlake Park area including Sulphur Bank Drive, Crestview Drive, Lakeshore Drive, and parts of the City of Clearlake. Lake County Transit is assisting evacuees with transportation to evacuation centers. Twin Pine was the first designated evacuation center, but is reported full. Grace Church at 6716 Live Oak Drive in Kelseyville has been designated as a second evacuation center.

Mike Wink is the Calfire Incident Commander and is supported by North Shore Fire District and the South Lake County Fire District. Other agencies assisting include the City of Clearlake, the City of Lakeport, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Fish and Wildlife, CHP, PG&E, Amerigas, Lake Transit Authority, and others. Additional resources continue to respond.

Sheriff Brian Martin as the Director of Emergency Services has proclaimed a local emergency throughout Lake County. The Lake County Board of Supervisors has called a special meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in the Board of Supervisor’s Chambers, Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes Street in Lakeport, California. During this special meeting, the Board will consider adopting a resolution confirming existence of a local emergency, ratifying Sheriff Martin’s Disaster Proclamation for the Sulfur Fire.
