Green Bay Police Assist Phoenix Police with Homicide Arrests

GREEN BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

On Friday, January 12th, 2018, the Green Bay Police Department received a call from Detectives with the Phoenix Police Department in Phoenix, Arizona. The Detectives were investigating a homicide that occurred in their city. They advised us that they had probable cause to arrest a suspect in that case. Working cooperatively with the United States Marshalls, Phoenix Detectives had reason to believe the male might be headed to a residential address in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Detectives requested the assistance of the Green Bay Police Department in attempting to verify the male was still at the residence, and to provide surveillance of the residence until they could arrive in Green Bay.

The Green Bay Police Department Investigative Division and Community Police Officers provided resources to assist with surveilling the residence and attempting to locate the suspect and the suspect vehicle. US Marshalls located in Wisconsin also arrived to assist. During the operation, a male party was observed in the residence that matched the physical description and photograph of the suspect provided by the Phoenix Police Department. The U.S. Marshalls then executed an arrest warrant from the Phoenix Police Department while members of the Green Bay Police Department maintained an outer perimeter. The male was taken into custody without incident.

Phoenix Detectives arrived in Green Bay and continued their investigation along with Green Bay Police Department Detectives and Community Police Officers. Another male located in the residence, the brother of the original suspect, was also arrested for his role in the homicide. Members of the Green Bay Police then assisted with obtaining a search warrant for the residence and the vehicle used by the male. Those searches located additional evidence of the crime.

One of the males is a juvenile, but both males are in secure custody for warrants issued by the State of Arizona and are expected to be extradited to the State of Arizona to face charges of:
1. First Degree Murder
2. Armed Robbery
3. Kidnapping
4. Theft of a Motor Vehicle

A member of the Green Bay Police Department Investigative Division will be available for a brief press statement and questions at 1:30pm at the Green Bay Police Department.
