*Update* #LASD SEB Personnel Responding to a Containment of a Barricaded Suspect, 200 blk East Avenue J, Lancaster

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) has concluded their tactical response regarding the barricaded suspect at the 200 block East Avenue J-12, Lancaster.

On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Special Enforcement Bureau deputies assisted Lancaster Station deputies with a containment for a suspect out on bond for “Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling” arrest.

It was learned that the suspect might not be in the location, as originally thought, and that he might be in his motorhome.  Deputies observed the suspect at the cross streets of Sierra Highway and West Avenue N, Palmdale, while patrolling areas he frequents.

After several hours and continuous verbal contact by SEB, and Crisis Negotiations Team members, the suspect complied and surrendered to deputies.  The suspect was detained and taken into custody without further incident.

The area was deemed safe and all neighborhood evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.

48 year-old, William Dean Nickel, male White, was arrested and transported to Lancaster Sheriff’s Station and booked for the following crimes: a warrant of “Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling”, that occurred in August of 2017, and is being held in lieu of $325,000.00 bail.  He was also charged with “Intimidating a Witness or Victim”, “Criminal Threats, and “Vandalism” and is being held in lieu of an additional combined total of $105,500.00 bail amount.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lancaster Station at (661) 948-8466.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), use your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.
