Louis Ruiz of Victorville arrested for attempt murder of deputies and multiple victims.

SUSPECT: Louis Ruiz, 34-year-old, Resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 12:01 a.m., deputies responded to a call of shots fired. The caller stated she and her two children were driving in the area of Ferndale Rd. and Mojave Dr. when they were shot at by a Hispanic male driving a red Honda. Deputies responded and quickly located a red Honda and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the Honda failed to yield and dispatch advised deputies the vehicle was stolen. Approximately one minute into the 2.5-mile pursuit, the driver of the Honda fired several rounds at deputies from the driver’s window. In the area north of Palmdale Rd., near El Evado Rd., the driver, Louis Ruiz, crashed into the desert and ran from the vehicle toward a nearby apartment complex. Deputies caught Ruiz, and Ruiz began to fight the deputies. Deputies used necessary force to place Ruiz in handcuffs, all the while believing he was armed with a gun.
Deputies searched the stolen vehicle and nearby area and found a loaded 9mm handgun and the magazine over half full. They located additional evidence of rounds being fired inside the vehicle.
Ruiz is a convicted felon, has gang member affiliations and extensive criminal history. Ruiz was arrested for Attempt Murder and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
