Suspect (photo released) wanted in connection with felony battery investigation at Denny’s.
On March 31, 2019, at approximately 2:25 a.m., patrol officers responded to a fight at the Denny’s Restaurant on Mowry Ave. After arriving, officers learned the incident began with an argument between a male customer and restaurant employees. During the argument, another male customer attempted to intervene. The two customers left the lobby of the restaurant and got into a physical altercation just outside the entrance. The customer who tried to intervene, suffered several significant facial injuries during the fight. The suspect fled the scene.
The victim initially refused medical treatment at the scene, but was later transported to a hospital by family members, where he was treated for his injuries.Initially it was believed the suspect may work for a food delivery business, however after significant investigative work, we have ruled out any association with the company and/or its’ employees. The restaurant did have two pick-up orders at the time, however thanks to the cooperation of the business, the employee was contacted and found not be be involved.
A video camera captured the suspect inside the restaurant just prior to the incident. Officers have no further leads regarding the suspect. If anyone recognizes the suspect, we ask that you please contact the Fremont Police Department’s non-emergency number at 510-790-6800 x3, email Officer Paiva at [email protected] or text Tip FremontPD followed by your message to 888777.
