**2nd Update** Suspect Involved in Police Pursuit/Shootout Dies, Bandini Boulevard/Downey Ave, Vernon

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, May 10, 2019, at approximately 2:30 P.M., near the intersection of Bandini Boulevard and Downey Avenue in the city of Vernon.

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, approximately 6:00 A.M., suspect Dylan Andres Lindsey succumbed to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound that occurred after firing multiple rounds at pursuing police and sheriff’s deputies who then returned fire at the end of a vehicle pursuit.  Suspect Lindsey had been hospitalized since Friday, May 10, 2019.   
 
There is no additional information at this time.
 
Whenever a deputy-involved shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies, and a person is struck by gunfire, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene.  These include separate investigations by the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department immediately notifies the Office of the Inspector General who sends a representative to the incident scene and provides independent oversight throughout the investigative process.  Once concluded, a preliminary review is conducted by the Critical Incident Review Panel to determine whether any immediate actions are warranted.  Every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.  Input from Constitutional Policing Advisors is provided during the process.  The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Justice System Integrity Division, conducts a legal analysis to determine whether any criminal charges will be filed and if the shooting was legally justified.

**Update**
Homicide Investigators have identified the suspects in a pursuit that ended with an officer involved shooting in the city of Vernon, on Friday, May 10, 2019.
 
Homicide Investigators have identified Alison Hart, 37, of Redondo Beach, as being the woman involved in the pursuit with Sheriff’s Deputies and Downey Police Department Officers.
 
Suspect Hart was arrested and booked on Friday, May 10, 2019 at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station for multiple charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer and felony evading.  She is currently in custody and being held on a $2.1 million dollar bail. She has a pending court date of Tuesday May 14, 2019 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
 
The male suspect, who fired numerous rounds from a large caliber revolver at pursuing officers and deputies, has been identified as Dylan Andres Lindsey, 24, of Torrance. Suspect Lindsey remains hospitalized in critical condition after suffering from at least two gunshot wounds, one of which is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
 
The Sheriff’s Department has no comment on the suspect’s connection to the murder of a store owner that occurred Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in the city of Downey. Downey Police Department is actively investigating the murder.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy involved shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, May 10, 2019 at approximately 2:30 P.M., near the intersection of Bandini Boulevard and Downey Avenue in the city of Vernon.
 
Deputies from East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station responded to a request to assist Downey police officers who were in a vehicle pursuit of a murder suspect.  During the pursuit the suspect fired rounds from a large caliber handgun multiple times at the pursuing officers and deputies. Two Downey PD vehicles were struck by the gunfire from the suspect. No deputies or officers were injured.
 
The pursuit ended on Bandini Boulevard and Downey Avenue, just the east of Downey road after a deputy- officer involved shooting occurred. 
 
A special weapons and tactical Team from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau was deployed and took the suspect into custody. 
 
The suspect was struck at least once by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where his condition is unknown. 
 
The female driver of the pursued vehicle was also struck by gunfire.  She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries. The woman was taken into custody and booked at East Los Angeles Station. 
 
The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene.
