Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of July 14-20, 2019

                             
The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of July 14-20, 2019:        
 
July 14, 2019

  • No significant activity.
 
July 16, 2019
  • At approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance call in the1500 block of Three Ranch Road. Upon arrival, they contacted an adult female who stated she had a verbal argument with an adult male that returned after recently being told he couldn’t live there anymore. During the argument, the suspect became angry and threw a glass mug at the victim. When she stated she was going to call the police, the suspect threatened to kill her and vandalized her vehicle. Deputies located the suspect inside the home and detained him. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and making criminal threats.    
 
July 17, 2019
  • A Vandalism/Graffiti was reported at 1171 Encanto Parkway (Avila Garden’s Residents for seniors). At approximately 6:10 p.m., a witness observed an adult male spray painting letters on a retaining wall with red paint. The witness observed the suspect enter a black Chrysler 300 and drive away. The damage was estimated to cost approximately $500 to remove. The investigation is on-going.
     
July 18, 2019
  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 1100 block of Central Avenue. A 2005 Acura RL was stolen from the street and recovered on 07-19-19 by Monrovia P.D. with no suspects in custody.             
 
July 19, 2019
  • An Armed Robbery was reported at 1430 Mountain Avenue (7-Eleven). At approximately 3:40 a.m., two male adult suspect’s entered the store. As they walked past the clerk, one suspect lifted his shirt displaying what appeared to be the butt of a handgun. The clerk immediately called 911 as the suspects walked to the beer section, grabbed two cases of beer and proceeded to walk out of the store. The clerk feared for his safety and told the suspects to take the beer and not hurt him. One of the suspect’s was detained and arrested by responding deputies, the other was not located. No gun was recovered.
 
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 800 block of Cinnamon Lane. Sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., person’s unknown stole the stereo and DVD player, along with some personal items. There was no sign of forced entry. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,200.
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1322 Huntington Drive (Grocery Outlet). After loading her groceries in her car, the victim returned the shopping cart, not realizing she left her purse in the cart. When she realized her purse was not with her, she returned to the store, but her purse was gone. The victim pinged her phone approximately 20 minutes after the theft, and the GPS showed its location somewhere in the riverbed off Encanto Parkway. Surveillance footage showed an adult female ride up on a bicycle, remove the purse from the cart and ride off. The investigation is on-going.
