FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

On July 24, 2019 (Wednesday) at approximately 10:22 pm, personnel from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Rancho Vista Blvd and Avenue O-8, which is within the incorporated area of the City of Palmdale.

The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate at approximately 10:22 pm a 2012 Toyota Yaris driven by a 29 year old male was traveling eastbound on Rancho Vista Blvd and struck a 27 year old male pedestrian crossing the street from the south side to the north side of Rancho Vista Blvd. Based on the evidence, the pedestrian was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk against a solid red traffic signal. 

The 27 year old male pedestrian was transported via ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  A driving under the influence of cannabis investigation was conducted and is pending toxicology results. 

Anyone with information regarding the traffic collision is encouraged to call Palmdale Station’s Traffic Department at 661-272-2400.  The investigation is ongoing.

Rancho Vista Blvd between Avenue O-8 and Montellano Ave was closed to routine traffic until 2:00 am while this incident was being investigated.
