Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of September 8-14, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of September 08-14, 2019.        
 
September 08, 2019

  • No significant activity.        
 
September 09, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 3:48 a.m., deputies were patrolling the 2400 block of Huntington Drive, when their attention was drawn to an adult male and female loitering around the “Boulevard Cleaners” which was closed for business. Due to recent commercial burglaries, deputies contacted the two individuals. During their investigation, it was determined the male had outstanding warrants and was arrested. Incident to his arrest, the male was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia, and was additionally charged. The female was warned about loitering around closed businesses and was no longer detained.        

September 10, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies responded to 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart), regarding loss prevention requesting an old motorhome to be towed from their lot. Deputies contacted an adult male and female inside the motorhome.  During the contact, the male was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia. The female was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and heroin. After further investigation, both were arrested on the narcotic related charges.       

 
September 11, 2019
  • Attempt Burglary:
Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on September 10 and 8:00 a.m. on the 11th, person’s unknown attempted to pry open the rear door of the “Children’s First pediatric Group” located at 2329 Huntington Drive. It appeared the suspects never made entry and nothing inside the business appeared disturbed.  
 
  • Robbery Arrest:
On August 17 at approximately 4:08 a.m., the owner of “Le Donuts” located at 1802 Huntington Drive, was robbed at knife point and her purse stolen. Duarte Special Assignment Deputies were following up on the case based on additional information provided by the victim. After further investigation, the suspect, who apparently resides with his girlfriend across the street from the donut shop, was positively identified and arrested without incident. The victim’s purse was also located and returned.          
 

September 12, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies responded to 1250 Huntington Drive, regarding an adult male acting bizarrely. Upon arrival, they contacted an adult male who was making random and incoherent statements that did not make sense. The suspect admitted to recently ingesting methamphetamine, and was detained pending a narcotics investigation. After further investigation and a field sobriety test, the male was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
 
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported at 1088 Huntington Drive (T-Mobile). An adult male selected a pair of ear pods and a power grip, then proceeded to the cash register to pay. After his debit card was declined, the male ran out of the store with the stolen items. While deputies were obtaining information for their report, an employee advised them an adult male matching the suspect’s description just committed another petty theft at the “T-Mobile” store in West Covina. The investigation is ongoing.

September 14, 2019
  • Shoplifting Arrest:
Deputies responded to 1327 Huntington Drive (99 Cent Store), regarding a shoplifting call. Upon arrival, deputies detained two adult males in the parking lot that matched the description of the suspects in the call. Deputies were advised the males entered the store earlier in the day and stole miscellaneous merchandise. When they returned later in the day and again stole miscellaneous merchandise, deputies were immediately called. The suspect’s admitted to stealing the merchandise and were arrested. One of the suspects was found to be in possession of burglary tools and was additionally charged. The $20 in stolen merchandise was returned to the store. Both suspects are from San Bernardino.
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Encanto Parkway and Fish Canyon Road regarding a traffic infraction. Deputies discovered the driver was driving on a suspended license and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The female passenger was also found to have outstanding warrants, and both were arrested without incident. During a search of the vehicle, narcotic paraphernalia was recovered. The driver took responsibility for the paraphernalia and was additionally charged.
