Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of September 29 - October 5, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of September 29, 2019 through October 05, 2019:        
 
September 29, 2019

  • Petty Theft / Shoplifting:
While employees were checking store inventory, a $599 Dyson vacuum was found missing from a display shelf. Also missing, were four pairs of headphones valued at $372 from the electronics section. After reviewing video footage, it appears an adult female walked out of the store with the vacuum on September 26, and an adult male walked out with the headphones. Both incidents happened within an hour of each other. The investigation is ongoing.
 
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A grand theft auto was reported at 1600 Mountain Ave. (Walmart). Sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., person’s unknown stole a 1997 Honda Civic from the parking lot. The vehicle was recovered on 10-01-19 in Monrovia County. 
 
September 30, 2019
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Bradbury Ave. Sometime between 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., person’s unknown pried open the shell to a pickup truck and stole approximately $150 in plumbing tools.             
October 01, 2019
  • Domestic Violence Arrest:
At approximately 1:40 p.m., deputies responded to the Walmart parking lot, 1600 Mountain Ave., and detained an adult male and female regarding a disturbance call. After further investigation, deputies determined a domestic violence assault occurred and placed the female under arrest for domestic violence.      
 
  • Commercial Burglary:
A commercial burglary was reported at the “Monrovia Internal Medicine” business, located at 1227 Buena Vista Street, #D. Sometime between 7:30 p.m. on October 1and 8:30 a.m. on October 2, person’s unknown kicked open the rear door and stole two lap top computers. No other items appeared to be disturbed or missing.

October 02, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Encanto Parkway & Hacienda Drive regarding a vehicle with expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, it was determined he was driving without a license and arrested. Incident to the arrest, the driver was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and additionally charged.  
  • Narcotics Arrest:
While patrolling the area of Beckville St. and Mountain Ave., deputies contacted an adult male who was walking with a glass narcotics pipe in his hand. During the investigation, the suspect was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, more than just for personal use. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
 
October 03, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 9 p.m., deputies responded to the 1600 block of 3rd St., regarding a call of a possibly mentally ill person. Upon arrival, they detained an adult male who matched the description in the call. During their investigation, the male was found to be in possession of a glass narcotics pipe and was detained. After further investigation, the male was found not to be a danger to himself or others, however, he was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia.   
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies contacted an adult male for drinking in public at the bus stop located at Huntington Dr. and Las Lomas Rd. After confirming the male was drinking an alcoholic beverage in public, he was arrested. Incident to the arrest, the male was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was additionally charged.   
 
October 04, 2019
  • Grand Theft Auto:
Between 6:20 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., a 2005 Honda Civic was stolen from the 1900 block of Broach Avenue. The vehicle was recovered the same day in Duarte.    
       
October 05, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
Deputies responded to the 3700 block of Encanto Pkwy. regarding a call of a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be stripped. Upon arrival, they contacted an adult male standing by the car with a hammer, and an adult female standing by the passenger side. During the investigation, the male became uncooperative and was detained pending a possible stolen vehicle investigation. During the investigation, the male was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and arrested. It was also determined he had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. The female was determined to be the legal owner of the vehicle and was no longer detained.
