Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of October 13-19, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of Oct. 13-19, 2019:        
 
October 13, 2019

  • No significant activity
 
October 14, 2019
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported in the 1800 block of Wardell Avenue.  Construction material was taken by an adult male riding a red bicycle.  The crime was captured on camera, however, the suspect has yet to be identified. The investigation is ongoing.    
      
October 15, 2019
  • Residential Burglary:
A residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of MelCanyon Road.  Between 7:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., persons unknown entered through an unlocked bedroom window and ransacked the house. Several electronic devices and cash were taken. Loss was estimated at over $10,000.   
        
October 16, 2019
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest:
Deputies responded to the 3200 block of Tannencrest Drive regarding a family disturbance and upon arrival, they detained an adult male who was intoxicated. After further investigation, deputies arrested the male for throwing a porcelain plate at his niece and grandmother, striking them in the head. Both family members sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics. 
 
  • Domestic Violence:
A domestic violence incident was reported in the 2500 block of Gardi Street. The victim and her ex-boyfriend were involved in an argument, when the suspect suddenly slammed the car door on the victims arm.  The victim sustained a laceration and was treated by paramedics. The investigation is ongoing.        
 
October 17, 2019
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon:
At approximately 8:50 a.m., deputies responded to 1600 Mountain Avenue (WalMart), regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. The victim and her boyfriend were arguing across the street, when the boyfriend started banging on her car. The victim drove away, however, the suspect followed in his vehicle. The victim pulled into the Walmart parking lot in an attempt to elude the suspect, but couldn’t. The suspect rammed the victim’s car at approximately 10 mph, then fled the location. The suspect turned himself in approximately an hour later. The victim was not injured.
