PG&E is continuing to restore power in Moraga.  This is not an instant process.  Lines and poles have to be inspected and, if damage is located, it must be repaired before power can be restored.  Residents are continuing to have power turned on.  However, PG&E has publicized that this process can take 48 hours due to the work involved, the effect of the high winds and the number of customers who were affected.

The Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until 11:00 p.m. and is only slated to affect a small number of customers in the southern portion of Moraga.  It is scheduled to end on Wednesday at 7:00 a.m., after which the repowering process will begin.  Residents should check their address on the PG&E website to ascertain if they are scheduled to be affected.  While this is not 100%, it is the best source of information.  Remember, these power shutoffs are being done to prevent wildland fires when extreme fire conditions exist.

We understand that frustrations and emotions are running high...members of our department also have lost power.  However, it is not the appropriate venue to vent these frustrations upon our Dispatchers, who work very hard to serve our Town and, through their actions, have helped and supported many of us in critical situations. Neither the Town nor our Dispatchers are to blame for the power outages and are working to provide good information to everyone.  The PG&E field crews are also working hard on our behalf.  Consider saving your complaints for PG&E management after these events are over.
