INCIDENT: Assault on an Officer / Deputy Involved Shooting

LOCATION: 9750 Key Pointe Drive, Hesperia

SUSPECT: Travis Brown, 29 years old, resident of Hesperia

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 2:38 a.m. deputies responded to the Holiday Inn for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the hotel. Deputies arrived and made contact with two occupants inside the car. When the driver, later identified as Travis Brown, was asked to step out of the car, he started the car and accelerated through the parking lot toward the patrol vehicles. Brown rammed one of the patrol vehicles, also striking a privately-owned vehicle in the parking lot, at which time a deputy involved shooting occurred. Brown sped out of the parking lot into the desert area where he crashed the car a short distance away and then fled on foot.
No one was injured during the incident.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division are conducting an investigation. Detectives located a loaded handgun and silencer inside the car. Based on information obtained during the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Travis Brown for Assault on an Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Silencer. Brown was also found to be on PRCS felony probation and has failed to report to probation since October 18, 2019. A pending absconding warrant was also submitted to the courts.
