Homicide Investigators arrest Ricardo Alvarado for the murder of Manuel Vasquez

LOCATION: 8400 block of Greenleaf Lane, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT: Ricardo Alvarado, age 45 a resident of San Bernardino
VICTIM: Manuel Vasquez, age 65 a resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY: UPDATE: Monday, November 18th
On Sunday, November 17th, at approximately 5:38 p.m., deputies from the Specialized Enforcement Division located the suspect, Ricardo Alvarado, at a motel in San Bernardino. Alvarado was transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters where he was interviewed by Homicide Investigators. At the conclusion of the interview, Alvarado was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC187 Murder.
Through investigation, investigators determined that the suspect and the victim were at the residence in the 8400 block of Greenleaf Lane when they were involved in an argument. The argument escalated, and the victim was stabbed numerous times resulting in his death.
Bomb and Arson investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set by the suspect prior to him leaving the residence.
The victim and the suspect were known to each other prior to the incident.

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, at approximately 11:31 p.m., deputies from Rancho Cucamonga Police Department and fire personnel from Rancho Cucamonga Fire responded to a residential fire in the 8400 block of Greenleaf Lane. While putting out the fire, fire personnel located a deceased male inside the residence.
Sheriff’s Specialized Investigators, Homicide Detail and Bomb and Arson responded to the location to conduct the investigation.
The cause of death and identification of the victim is under investigation.
