Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of January 19-25, 2020

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of January 19-25, 2020:
 
January 19, 2020

  • No significant activity.
 
January 20, 2020
  • Petty theft:
At approximately 1:45 a.m., a petty theft occurred at 1802 Huntington Drive (7-Eleven). An adult male and female entered the store and were lingering for approximately 30 minutes, when the female asked the employee to come back to the beer aisle because she broke a bottle of beer. When the employee went back to clean up the aisle, the male suspect went behind the counter and stole approximate $900 in lottery tickets. Both suspects then ran out of the store and out of view.     
 
January 21, 2020
  • Robbery (Strong-Arm):
At approximately 10:25 p.m., deputies responded to the 2000 block of Broach Avenue regarding a strong-arm robbery call. The victim stated her ex-boyfriend was banging on her front door. When she opened the door, he assaulted her and stole a credit card and an apple watch. The suspect then ran out of the house and fled in his vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries, but refused medical attention. The investigation is ongoing.     
      
January 22, 2020
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1900 block of Buena Vista Street. Sometime during the night, unknown person’s shattered the victim’s front passenger side window and stole a cell phone that was laying on the front passenger seat. 
 
  • Petty Theft:
At approximately 9:35 p.m., deputies responded to the 1300 block of Marand Street, regarding a possible burglary. Upon arrival, they contacted the victim and her roommate who stated they heard footsteps in the house and saw the door knob leading from the garage to the house jiggling. Deputies cleared the house and did not locate anyone. The victim stated she believes whoever entered the house stole an $80 pair of jeans from the dryer in the garage. There were no signs of forced entry.    
 
January 23, 2020
  • Petty Theft:
A bicycle was reported stolen in the 1800 block of Buena Vista Street. An adult male was observed on video approaching the victims open garage on a blue/gray bicycle. The suspect is then seen leaving the garage on the victim’s mountain bike and rides away. Approximately 30 minutes later, the suspect is seen returning to the garage on foot and taking an electric buffer and the blue/gray bicycle he first arrived with. The theft was not actually noticed till later in the afternoon.  
 
  • Grand Theft / Mail Theft:
At approximately 9:15 p.m., the victim was sitting in his vehicle in front of his home in the 2400 block of Calle Villada Circle, when an adult female approached him and asked to use his cell phone. After allowing her to use the phone, she then asked for a ride to Glendora. After running back into his house for a minute or two, he gave her a ride and dropped her off at the Target in San Dimas as she requested. 
 
Shortly after dropping her off, the victim received text messages regarding possible fraudulent activity on his credit card. He looked down and noticed his wallet was missing from the center console. He returned to the shopping center and confronted the female outside the store. He was able to retrieve his credit cards and mail which she had also stolen from his mailbox, before she ran away. The investigation is ongoing.         
      
January 24, 2020
  • Grand Theft:
A grand theft was reported in the 2600 block of Gardi Street. Sometime between January 20th and the 23rd, unknown persons stole a package containing two iPhones from the front porch. The loss was estimated at approximately $2,100.   
 
January 25, 2020
  • No significant activity.
