Fatal Collision - Grand Av & Cedar St

DATE: March 6, 2020
On March 6, 2020 at 8:04 AM, Escondido Police and Escondido Fire responded to a vehicle versus bicycle collision on Grand Avenue at Cedar Street.
The initial investigation disclosed the following. A silver 2014 Dodge Caravan, driven by a 39-year-old Escondido resident, was eastbound on Grand Avenue approaching Cedar Street in the number two lane. A bicycle, ridden by a 21-year-old Escondido resident, was north on Cedar Street approaching Grand Avenue. The bicyclist failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the intersection in front of the Dodge Caravan. The bicyclist was struck by the Dodge Caravan and died at the scene.
This collision is under investigation by Officer Mike Nelson of the Escondido Police Department Traffic Division. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is encouraged to contact Officer Nelson at (760) 839-4407.
