Bulk Pickup & Recycling Center Information

A MESSAGE FROM THE
SOUTH RIVER DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS


Recycling Center
 
The DPW recycling center, located on Ivan Way, will reopen on Saturday, May 23rd. Here is what you need to know:
  • The recycling center will be open Saturdays from 8am until noon.
  • You must be a South River resident and show proof of residency.
  • You must wear a face covering and follow social distancing rules.
  • Please stay in your vehicle until your ID is checked.
  • Dispose of your items in the appropriate dumpsters / locations and exit promptly.
Please note that no garbage or bulk items are permitted. Only the below items are allowed at the recycling center:
  • Electronics (televisions, computers, printers)
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic bottles (coded #1 or #2 only)
  • Cans (aluminium, steel & tin)
  • Newspapers
  • Glass (bottles & jars)
  • Used motor oil
  • No plastic bags allowed
  • Brush (no stumps)
Bulk Pickup

Bulk pickups will resume on Friday, May 15th. Here is what you need to know:
 
Non-Rental Residential Properties
  • Bulk items will be picked up by appointment only.
  • Call on Monday (7:30am - 3:30pm) to schedule a Friday pickup.
  • Pickups are scheduled on a first come first served basis.
  • Pickups are scheduled one week at a time.
  • Residents are limited to four (4) bulk item collections per calendar year.
Commercial & Rental Properties
 
No bulk items will be collected from any residential rental properties, commercial, office or other business establishments. Removal and disposal of bulk items from rental properties shall be the sole responsibility of the commercial or rental property owner. However, if the commercial or rental property is the property owner's primary residence, bulk items will be collected two (2) times per calendar year.

Yard Waste & Grass Clippings

Weekly Monday yard waste and grass clipping collection which resumed on Monday, April 20th continues. Please place these items at the curb on Sunday evenings.

  • Yard waste must be in an open container
  • No plastic bags
  • Branches must be no longer than 4 feet
  • Branches must be bundled

There are no changes to household trash and recycling pickups.

Residents are reminded not to place recyclables in plastic bags when placing them at the curb for pickup.
