Report suspicious, unsolicited seeds to authorities.
Recently there have been reports of people in the United States receiving suspicious, unsolicited packages of seeds, that appear to be sent from China. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is aware of this and are working with other federal agencies to investigate the situation.
The Arcadia Police Department encourages our residents, business owners and the general public to report any suspicious seeds you may receive. The USDA urges anyone in California who receives an unsolicited package of seeds to immediately contact the California Department of Food and Agriculture (http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/plant/index.html or the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/ppq-program-overview/ct_sphd)
In the event you do receive any packages of unsolicited seeds, the USDA recommends handling the seeds as little as possible and not planting them. Contact the Arcadia Police Department at (626)574-5151 and we will document the incident.
