At approximately 10:15 p.m. last night, Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the corner of Muddy Creek and Spanish Wells roads on Hilton Head Island regarding a disturbance. Upon their arrival, deputies found a crowd of around 20 to 25 people gathered in the road and learned that, during the disturbance, four adults (three male, one female) had been shot by unknown subjects. It was also learned that the subjects left the area following the shooting.  

After deputies secured the scene, Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue paramedics responded to render aid to the four wounded people. While deputies investigated the incident, paramedics transported the four to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment: two by air; two by ambulance. As of the time of this advisory, three of the wounded people were listed in stable condition, one was critical.   

Sheriff's Office investigators and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to interview witnesses and process for forensic evidence. Two firearms and multiple cartridge casings of varying caliber were recovered. The subjects responsible have not been located.

The incident remains under investigation.
