Advisory

Sheriff's Office arrests Tyreek Robinson in September 19 Hilton Head Island residential burglary/sexual assault.

Evidence discovered in a vehicle left in a ditch on Muddy Creek Road on Hilton Head Island last week has led to the identification of Tyreek Robinson, 22, of Hilton Head, as the subject wanted in the September 19, 2020, burglary and sexual assault that occurred in a home in a Spanish Wells Road neighborhood.

In an unrelated incident yesterday morning, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators and members of the Beaufort County Violent Crimes Task Force, who were responding to a report of a male subject with a gun, arrested Robinson and charged him with discharging a firearm within town limits, unlawful carrying of a pistol and pointing and presenting a firearm.

In the September 19, 2020, incident, Robinson is charged with criminal sexual conduct 1st degree, burglary 1st degree, aggravated voyeurism and petit larceny.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY/SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

At around 6 a.m. September 19, 2020, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a report of a residential burglary in a Spanish Wells Road neighborhood, Hilton Head. The victim reported that she had been awakened by a male subject inside their residence and that the subject had fled when he was discovered.

The victim reported that the subject had stolen a wallet from inside the residence and had entered her vehicle, which was parked in the garage, and had stolen items. The victim told Sheriff’s Office investigators she believed the subject had used a phone to record her or take pictures of her while he was inside the residence.

It was later learned through a review of evidence from the burglary that, prior to her being awakened, the subject had sexually assaulted the victim.

MUDDY CREEK ROAD INCIDENT

On October 7, 2020, in the late afternoon, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crash at 12 Muddy Creek Road, where they found a red 1991 Chevy Blazer on its right side in a ditch near Campbell Drive, but no driver or passenger on scene.

The vehicle had a bullet hole in the windshield on the passenger side and, prior to the crash, caused damage to several mailboxes, as well as a fence along the road.

Sheriff’s Office investigators traced the ownership of the vehicle to Robinson and discovered evidence inside the vehicle that directly tied Robinson to the September 19, 2020, incident.

CORDILLO PARKWAY INCIDENT

Around 10 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force responded to 104 Cordillo Parkway after a report of a male subject with a gun.

On the scene, deputies learned that an Uber passenger had refused to leave the vehicle and became angry when a friend of the Uber driver had come out of the apartment complex to tell him to exit the car. The man then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the driver’s friend, who said she heard a shot after she turned and ran away.

During an interview with Sheriff’s Office investigators, the driver’s friend identified Robinson, who was standing nearby, as the Uber passenger.

Investigators found Robinson in possession of the handgun and he was arrested. He was taken to the Beaufort County’s Sheriff’s Office substation on Hilton Head, where he was questioned regarding the Cordillo Parkway incident, the Spanish Wells Road neighborhood burglary/sexual assault incident and the Muddy Creek Road incident.

Following his interview by investigators, Robinson was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where, as of the time of this advisory, he remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing before a Circuit Court judge.
