IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in Homicide Investigation

INCIDENT TYPE: Homicide Arrest

INCIDENT LOCATION: 338 1/2 N. Randolph Street  

INDIANAPOLIS-On Sunday March 14, 2021 Homicide Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made an arrest in the quadruple homicide at 338 N. Randolph Street. 

On Saturday, March 13, 2021, just after 9:35 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to a report of a person shot at 253 N. Randolph Street.  IMPD officers arrived and located an adult female with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.  Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) responded and transported her to Eskenazi hospital in critical condition.  

Officers gathered additional information which led them to 338 N. Randolph Street.  Officers arrived and located 7-year-old Eve Moore, 23-year-old Daquan Moore, 35-year-old Anthony Johnson and 44-year-old Tomeeka Brown inside the residence with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.  IEMS responded to 338 N. Randolph Street and pronounced the four victims deceased.

IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.  Through their investigation detectives learned Malik Halfacre allegedly fled the residence in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala bearing Indiana, In God We Trust license plate, number CJA272 and took six-month old, Malia Halfacre.  Detectives believed Malia Halfacre was in danger. 

On March 14, 2021 in the early morning hours Detectives located six-month old, Malia Halfacre and shortly after located the 2012 Chevrolet Impala. She was found safe and unharmed.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.

On March 14, 2021 IMPD Homicide and Violent Crimes detectives gathered information on the whereabouts of Malik Halfacre.  This information led them to the 6200 block of Eastridge Dr.  SWAT responded and after several hours, made entry into a residence and apprehended Malik Halfacre, hiding in the attic. 

On March 14, 2021 Homicide detectives arrested 25-year-old Malik Halfacre for his alleged role in these murders.  The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make the final charging decision.

Due to assistance from the community Malik Halfacre was located shortly after the crime occurred.
