Flash Flood Warning in effect for Paulding County including all of Metro ATL thru 2:30pm today.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning in effect for Paulding County, the warning also includes all of Metro Atlanta thru 2:30pm today.
Weather radar has indicated very heavy rain in an area of showers and thunderstorms over the warned area. Since 5am most of the area has received 1 to 2 inches of rain with an additional 2 to 3 inches expected as another line of very heavy rain moves in from Alabama. Several creeks and streams across the metro area are rising rapidly and will soon reach flood stage. Widespread minor flooding of these creeks are expected but some may approach moderate flood stage.
This is not expected to become a signifigant flood event however you should be alert of overwhelemed drains in urban areas which could cause street flooding as well as highways and underpasses, country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the road. If you see water covering the road: Turn Around - Don't Drown! The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
A weather warning indicates a confirmed, current and present danger to this area.
Take necessary safety precautions.
