For Immediate Release on Behalf of the Marin County Police Chiefs Association

Marin County Law Enforcement leaders are standing together and issuing a warning to leaders of organized theft rings that have rampaged through Bay Area commercial districts. The Marin County Chiefs of Police Association, which all Police Chiefs in Marin, the Marin County Sheriff, and the District Attorney are members of, stated:

We stand united in denouncing the recent violent theft related offenses throughout the Bay Area. Marin County leaders in law enforcement stand committed to the tireless and determined investigations of these crimes, coupled with the relentless prosecution of such felonious activity.

Orchestrated retail thefts, as seen throughout the bay creates a formidable challenge for local law enforcement, ultimately costing retailers millions of dollars and impacting costs to consumers. Such violent activity creates an extraordinary safety issue in our communities and Marin County Law Enforcement refuses to accept such violent, brazen theft related activity.

Marin County Law Enforcement leaders collectively encourage our communities and retailers to partner with law enforcement and report suspicious activity, engage in prevention strategies to harden potential targets, and to avoid individual confrontation with violent theft activity.

If you see any suspicious activity, please immediately call 911. Together, we can all be vigilant to quell these organized theft rings. If you see something, say something.
