NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man. The incident was reported Sunday, April 3, 2022, at approximately 6:54 PM, on the 1500 block of S. Wilmington Ave., in the city of Compton.
Deputies from the Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male adult security guard outside of the location. He told the deputies, four male adult suspects entered the location and attempted to rob it at gun point. At that time, the security guard exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects. The suspects fled the location in a vehicle in an unknown direction.
The security guard was wounded during the gunfire. He was transported to a local area hospital to be treated for his wounds.
A short time later, one of the suspects, a male Black adult, was dropped off at a local area hospital with a gunshot wound. He was treated for his wounds, but later succumbed to his injury.
The other three suspects are still outstanding.
The suspect and victim’s guns were both recovered at the scene.
