INCIDENT TYPE: Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon

DETAILS: At approximately 12:23AM, Officers were dispatched to the area of SW 53/Oregon, on multiple shots fired. The officers were then directed to the apartments at 5700 Canyon drive where the shots had come from. At the same time, 2 people were taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries, from this same incident. Officers located a large party at the apartments on Canyon Drive. Officers tried to call out the subjects with a PA, and this was unsuccessful initially. The Amarillo PD CIRT team was called out and responded. As Swat, Negotiators, and the bomb team were arriving, subjects began exiting the apartment. Once the apartment was empty, witnesses were identified, and Violent Crimes Detectives began interviewing people to attempt to identify the suspects. Several weapons were in the apartment where the party had occurred. This investigation is still ongoing.
