Update 3/7/23
The Fairfield Police Department, with the assistance of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, have located burned remains in a rural unincorporated area of Fresno County. The remains were located on March 3, 2023. The remains are in the custody of the Fresno County Coroner until they can be transferred to the Solano County Coroner.
Fairfield detectives were able to recover DNA from the remains, and as of this afternoon, the remains have been positively identified as 53-year-old Fairfield resident Anu Anand Hobson. Anu had been last seen on February 13, 2023 and reported missing on February 15, 2023. Based on the investigation 61-year-old Gregory Grant Hobson of Fairfield was arrested on February 16, 2023.
Gregory Hobson has been charged with one count of murder and is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday March 9, 2023, at 1:30pm.
Our thoughts are with Anu’s family as they receive this heartbreaking news. We can only hope this discovery brings some level of closure to the family as they grieve. Please respect the family’s privacy while they cope with their loss.

Fairfield Man Arrested for Murder of Wife
A Fairfield man, reported missing with his wife on yesterday, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
61-year-old Greg Hobson was arrested yesterday, February 16, by Fairfield Police detectives.
Police located both Hobson and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma he and his wife, 53-year-old Anu Anand Hobson, were reported to be traveling in. Anu has not been found and, based on evidence collected thus far, police believe she has been killed.
Anyone who may have seen Greg Hobson, Anu Anand Hobson, or witnessed any suspicious activity involving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma, license plate 21170G3, is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigations Unit at (707)428-7600.
No additional information will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

The Fairfield Police Department requests the public's assistance locating a couple reported missing. Gregory Hobson and Anu Anandhobson are believed to be traveling together in a silver 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
The vehicle last hit on FLOCK cameras near Elk Grove Boulevard in Sacramento on Tuesday, February 14.
