Remains found in burned car identified as Clifford Jenkins, who was reported missing in July. 
The remains found in the burned car on Saturday, August 5, 2023, off Ramsey Road in Burton have been identified as 49-year-old Clifford Lamont Jenkins.
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Services Laboratory was able to match DNA obtained from the deceased with DNA collected from personal effects of Mr. Jenkins.
At this time, the manner of death has been ruled as a homicide.
Clifford Jenkins was reported missing on July 17th, 2023. He was last seen leaving his Grays Hill home on Friday, July 14th in a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
Investigators are unable to confirm that the burned vehicle that Mr. Jenkins was found in is the Chevrolet Cruze due to the extent of damage caused by the fire. The body style of the car and a Chevrolet emblem found at the scene leads investigators to believe that it is the same car that Jenkins was last known to be in.
