Convicted Felon Arrested after being Identified as the Suspect in an Armed Liquor Store Robbery

DATE/TIME: April 20, 2025 / 8:00 a.m.

INCIDENT: Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Short Barrel Rifle, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Machine Gun

LOCATION: 15689 Bear Valley Road, Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Davon Burson, 21-year-old, resident of Victorville


SUMMARY: On April 20, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to Royal Liquor, located at 15689 Bear Valley Road in the city of Hesperia, reference a reported armed robbery. Upon deputies arrival, it was learned the suspect pointed a firearm at a store clerk and demanded money. The suspect threatened to harm the clerk if the clerk did not comply. The suspect took $100 and fled the location. Deputies were able to identify the suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued. 

On April 21, 2025, at approximately 12:22 a.m., deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect, identified as Davon Burson, 21-year-old, resident of Victorville, was taken into custody. 

A search warrant was conducted on Burson’s residence. A short barrel rifle, sub-machine gun, 9mm magazine and various ammunition were located. Burson is a felon and is prohibited from being in possession of firearms and ammunition. 

Burson was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC211-Robbery, PC29800(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC33215-Possession of a Short Barrel Rifle, PC32310(a)-Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, PC30305(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and PC32625(a)-Possession of a Machine gun.
