Wilmington Police arrest man in connection to an attempted burglary, multiple theft and trespassing incidents:

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to an attempted burglary, multiple theft and trespassing incidents following an investigation.

Between June 25th and July 21st, members of the Uniformed Services Division have responded to attempted burglary, multiple theft and trespassing complaints in the areas of the 1300 block of Riverview Avenue, the 500 block of Ogle Avenue, the 900 block of Blackshire Road, the 2500 block of Delaware Avenue and the 2300 block of Ridgeway Road. The cases were assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of the investigation Detective Merced identified 64-year-old Brian Giles as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

On July 24th at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers located Giles in the 500 block of North Gray Avenue and took him into custody without incident.

Giles has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Theft Under $1,500- Two Counts
  • Criminal Trespass (Third Degree)- Three Counts
  • Trespassing with Intent to Peer or Peep- Two Counts
  • Attempted Burglary (Third Degree)
  • Theft $1,500 or Greater
  • Criminal Trespass (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in the Justice Of The Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 secured-bail and $7,000 unsecured-bail.
