Wilmington Police announce efforts to fill vacant school crossing guard positions, including August 11 hiring event:
With the start of the next school year quickly approaching, the Wilmington Police Department is announcing efforts to recruit candidates to help fill a dozen vacant crossing guard positions.
School crossing guards can earn between $15 and $21 per hour, and typically work two shifts per day Monday through Friday – 4 hours in the morning, and 3 hours in the afternoon. As limited service employees, crossing guards are not required to reside in the city.

“The safety of our children begins before they enter the classroom,” said Sgt. Brianna Rodrigues, commanding officer of the WPD Traffic Unit. “Crossing guards are the first line of protection, making our neighborhoods safer one crossing at a time.”
