Councilmember Offers Reward in Connection with South L.A. Murder

What: News conference to announce a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person (s) responsible for gunning down a man on the street in South Los Angeles.

When: June 24, 2010

Victim’s family members

Why: Fifty-one-year-old Mario De Leon was fatally shot near 29th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard on March 23, 2010. Detectives say he was walking with his wife when a suspect pointed a handgun meant for another man walking behind the couple and fired multiple shots.

The shots missed the intended target and struck De Leon. The gunman remains at large. A reward is being offered to help track down the suspect.

Photos of the victim and a sketch of the suspect will be on display.
