-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lebanon, IN - I-65 northbound remains closed at the 138 mile marker at this time due to multiple crashes. An estimated 40 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes around 1:30 p.m. from the 138 mile marker up to the 140 mile marker. Units from the Lebanon Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police continue working to investigate the crashes and open the interstate. Although there were several injuries reported, at this time none are believed to be life threatening.

It is estimated the interstate will remain closed for at least another hour while the scene is cleared. Northbound traffic is being diverted off of I-65 at exit 138. Officers are in the intersections throughout Lebanon directing drivers back to the interstate on SR 32. Please seek alternate routes as traffic is very congested in the area.

Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and tow trucks continue to respond to the scene, please use caution when you see flashing emergency lights and allow them room to get through.

The roadways throughout Central Indiana are snow covered and hazardous. Only travel if necessary, reduce your speed significantly and allow ample space between you and the vehicle in front of you.
