On July 2, 2016 at 2:44 PM, the Oakland Police Department Communications Section received a call regarding a shooting in the 3300 block of MacArthur Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they located two victims, a mother and her son. Latrelle Parker, 48, and Ezra Glenn, 22, had been fatally shot. Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and attempted lifesaving measures; however, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
Last evening, the homicide investigation led Oakland officers and other law enforcement agencies to Stockton, California. The suspect, identified as Leonard Williams, 55, of Oakland, was located. However, Williams took his own life prior to physical detention or arrest by police.
Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. This in an ongoing investigation: anyone who has information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821.
