Friday March 17, 2017 the Giles County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by Investigators from the Pulaski Police Department to assist in the missing person case of Sherry Darlene Wallace age 57 of Pulaski. Upon talking with investigators from the PPD, Sheriff’s Investigators went to a location on Ables Lane with PPD Investigators and gathered evidence and took 60 year old Morris Edward Crook in for questioning. Later that evening he was charged with kidnapping of Ms. Wallace. Investigators later located Ms. Wallace’s vehicle on property occupied by Crook that led to the kidnapping investigation being upgraded to a homicide investigation. After an extensive search on Saturday March 18, 2017 for the body of Ms. Wallace another interrogation of Crook was completed and with his cooperation Investigators located the body of Ms. Wallace buried on property in the vicinity of Crook’s residence. The manner of death is pending autopsy at the Tennessee Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville, TN. The Giles County Sheriff’s Department and the Pulaski Police Department would like to publicly thank the 22nd Judicial District Attorney General’s Office, Giles County Office of Emergency Management, Giles County Emergency Medical Services, Giles County Medical Examiner’s Office, Giles County Fire and Rescue, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, South Eastern Search and Rescue Teams, Search Dog Teams from Clarksville, TN, Columbia Maury County Office of Emergency Management, Tennessee Highway Patrol Air Support Unit, Officer Farms for use of equipment, Reed’s BBQ and Richland Trace Market both providing food, and any other volunteers that helped in the search and/or provided services or equipment. This case brought many agencies and volunteers together and all worked as a team. We greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation, time and assistance in this case. This is still and active investigation and other charges are pending.
