*2nd Update*#LASD Homicide Det's respond to Asst Pomona PD w/OIS, 2 Ofcrs Shot, 1400blk Palomares St, Pomona

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation assisting Pomona Police Department with the officer-involved shooting, which occurred on the 1400 block of South Palomares Street, Pomona, Friday, March 9, 2018, at approximately 9:04 p.m.
 
Due to the nature of the investigation residents in the area of the 1400 block of Palomares Street., Pomona, had to be evacuated.  Law enforcement officials have contacted the affected residents and are assisting them with finding temporary relocation services. 
 
Detectives are continuing to process the crime scene, and are unable to provide a time frame for when the displaced residents will be allowed reentry into their residences.

The suspect 39 year-old Isaias De Jesus Valencia, from Pomona, was arrested and transported for booking.  He is being charged for the murder of a police officer and the attempted murder of other peace officers. He is being held without bail.  
 
The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.

**UPDATE**

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are assisting Pomona Police Department with an officer-involved shooting, which killed one officer, left a second officer injured and a suspect barricaded. The incident occurred in the 1400 Block of South Palomares Street, Pomona, on Friday, March 9, 2018, at approximately 9:04 P.M.
 
Detectives have learned that Pomona officers responded to a call for service of a person driving recklessly.  When officers arrived, they located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the suspect failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

During the pursuit, the suspect collided with a parked vehicle. After the traffic collision, the suspect fled on foot and a foot pursuit occurred. The suspect fled to a nearby apartment complex where he barricaded himself to a bedroom in one of the apartments. The officers attempted to contact the suspect when the suspect began to shoot through the door striking two officers. 

Both officers were transported to a local hospital.  One officer succumbed to his injuries and the second officer is listed in serious condition.

The names of the two Pomona Police officers involved in the shooting will not be released at this time.

The suspect is still barricaded inside the apartment and has not been taken into custody.

There is no information on the suspect or the motive for the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are assisting Pomona Police Department with investigating two officers being shot. The incident occurred on Friday, March 8, 2018, at approximately 9:10 p.m. Detectives are responding to the 1400 block of South Palomares Street, Pomona.

Two officers were struck by suspect gunfire, and are in unknown condition.
