Advisory

Concerning email affects numerous schools within #LASD jurisdiction

Last night, a concerning email was sent to numerous school districts nationwide. The email appears to be related to a similar hoax email received earlier in the week. Lancaster Sheriff’s Station is working with local school districts to complete a thorough assessment. We appreciate that our community continues to bring concerns to our attention. We take every matter seriously and are able to keep our community safe by working together. Remember, if you see something, say something.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Lancaster, Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, and the unincorporated communities of Antelope Acres, Lake Los Angeles, and Quartz Hill in the Antelope Valley.

 ___________________________________________________

Last night, a concerning email was sent to numerous school districts throughout the nation.  This included some school districts within the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s (LASD) jurisdiction.

While there are no specific or credible threats received by the LASD or those school districts, we take every potential threat very seriously and are working with the affected school districts within our jurisdiction to help ensure the safety and security of students and staff.  The LASD is increasing patrol checks in many areas and our local sheriff’s stations are working with those school districts that have received this non-credible threat.

We at the LASD are maintaining a heightened state of situational awareness and remain vigilant in the protection of our communities and schools.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employs thousands of uniformed deputy sheriffs who are on-duty 24-hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling and protecting the diverse population we serve in Los Angeles County.

As we go about our day, we ask the public to remain aware of their surroundings and report any information about potential incidents to their local law enforcement.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), use your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.
