Suspicious Device Found on Monte Rio Beach
On July 7, 2018, at 10:55 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies from the Guerneville Substation responded to Monte Rio Beach located at 2 Bohemian Highway in Monte Rio of a report of “Suspicious Device” located underneath the Monte Rio Bridge. When deputies arrived, they closed the bridge and evacuated the surrounding area with the assistance of Monte Rio Fire, officers from the California Highway Patrol and Sonoma County Park Rangers. The Sheriff’s Office EOD Unit responded to the scene and rendered one live pipe bomb safe. The beach was reopened at approximately 12:24 PM.
