Help Berkeley Police Identify these Suspects

On July 6th at 3:30 am, a resident was walking south on MLK Jr. Way (between University Avenue and Addison Street) when a group of 6-8 young men approached him from behind.  Without making any demands, the group shoved the resident to the ground and kicked him repeatedly.  Unable to move after the fall, the resident called BPD for help after the suspects left the area. The resident (a 72 year old male) was seriously injured during the attack and has since been treated and released from a local hospital.

The suspects are described as 6-8 African American males in their late teens to early twenties—last seen fleeing the area in a newer model silver or white minivan (possibly a Nissan Quest).

If you have any information about this crime, please contact BPD’s Homicide Unit at (510) 981-5741.
