Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a 2-year-old girl in East Islip this evening.
Third Precinct officers responded to 12 Percy Williams Drive at approximately 5:50 p.m. after a woman called 911 to report that she pulled her 2-year-old granddaughter, Galaxy Belenger, from the home’s inground pool and she was not breathing. The grandmother performed CPR until officers and rescue personnel arrived.
The toddler was transported by Islip Exchange Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.
