Update: Investigation into Shooting at San Pablo Park Continues

On August 18th around 5:30 pm, BPD received multiple calls of gunshots at San Pablo Park.  At the park, officers discovered that three men were hit by gunfire.  Officers found one man (age 25) on south end of the park with several gunshot wounds to his midsection.  Further north in the park (near a barbecue area), officers located two other men who were shot—one in the midsection (age 57) and another on his hand (age 63). Officers provided first aid until medical personnel could arrive.

At the time of the incident, several groups of families and friends were inside the park for gatherings.  While speaking with witnesses, investigators learned that the shooting likely involved a vehicle driving by and shooting at a group of young men in their twenties.  Though the investigation continues, the early indications are that the vehicle and the group of young men exchanged gunfire.  Investigators are still trying to determine if the 25 year old victim was the intended target.

In addition to the people who were injured, several vehicles were struck by gunfire and at least one residence.
