Tonight at approximately 6:00 PM, the County of Sonoma Emergency Services will begin testing emergency public alerts. Using SoCo Alert, Sonoma County residents should be getting test phone calls on home and cellular phones. You are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts at www.socoalert.com. If you receive a call tonight at approximately 6:00 PM, unless otherwise broadcasted, this will only be a test and will not ask you to do anything.
On Wednesday, September 12th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, the County of Sonoma, in conjunction with the City of Santa Rosa, will be testing the Federal Wireless Emergency Alerts in five areas of the county. Those areas are Healdsburg, Guerneville, Penngrove, Roseland and Glen Ellen/Kenwood.
These alerts will be forced to your cellular phones and you should get an alert unless you have turned off the service in your particular cellular phone device or don't have a compatible smart phone. On this alert, we will be asking for feedback so we have a full understanding of the reach of the alerts. We encourage everyone to click on the provided link and help us with the information when you receive the alert. Again, this is only a test unless otherwise stated. The link will be provided at the time of the alert. You don't need to do anything now.
The county will also be testing the broadcasters Emergency Alert system on September 12th between 10 AM- 12 PM. These will be emergency tests over certain local media broadcasts. Unless otherwise stated these are only tests.
